Autism Assessments

All of our autism assessments are completed by a multidisciplinary team (MDT), in accordance with NICE guidelines.

All assessments are Gold Standard.

We offer child autism assessments up to the age of 17 years old and adult assessments aged 18 years and above.

The first stage for getting your child tailored support is an initial consultation with Dr Laura Alcock, our Head Clinician. In this session she will gather a developmental history and make recommendations for you going forward.

This session typically lasts for 50 minutes, though for more complex cases she may request an 80 minute consultation (£225). Initial consultations are typically just with parents if the child is of primary school age, with children of secondary school age typically asked to attend with their parent or guardian. Initial consultations can be face to face consultation at our therapy room in Milton Keynes or online.

If an assessment is indicated for Autism and you wish to go ahead then a child assessment costs £1950 and is made up of four main parts.

The Parent assessment (ADIR): takes up to 3 hours and can be face to face or online.

Direct observation (ADOS): a face to face session directly with child which typically takes up to one hour.

Administration of psychometrics questionnaires (SRS 2)

Gathering of third-party information: including liaison with school or education provision where possible. Where appropriate a school observation will be completed.

On the completion of these steps a comprehensive report summarising the results of the assessments is prepared, as well as any diagnoses (if indicated).

This report can be expected within six to eight weeks from the start of the assessment, though we aim for sooner. We then offer a 20 minute feedback session to deliver a summary of the findings of the assessment and discuss next steps if desired.
